The Department of Social Work’s Masters of Social Work (MSW) program's mission is to prepare advanced generalist social work practitioners who demonstrate the application of professional social work knowledge, values, and skills to practice situations to promote human and community well-being. The program endeavors to train advanced generalist practitioners to utilize theoretical frameworks in the application of therapeutic skills in the engagement, assessment, and intervention of/with diverse clients and constituencies in various agencies and social services setting.  A focus of the program is to enhance the preparation of advanced generalist practitioners to promote and advocate for human rights and social/economic justice in a purposeful, intentional, and professional manner in rural to metropolitan communities incorporating the impact of global perspectives.

The MSW degree is a completely online program. The program is offered in intensive 8 week sessions.  A supervised field internship in a professional local, state or regional social services agency is required.  This internship will be concurrent with required course work.

Students who have completed a Bachelors of Social Work from an accredited institution are eligible to participate in the one year option.  All other majors will participate in the two year option.
